Equality Diversity & Inclusion

Building a Future Where Everyone Belongs

Inclusion isn’t just part of what we do – it’s who we are. We believe that when people feel respected, valued, and supported, they can achieve incredible things. That’s why we’re committed to creating a workplace and a community where diversity is celebrated, equality is championed, and everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

At the Heart of Our Organisation

At the heart of our organisation is a simple truth: our people are our best asset and the key to our success. Everything we do is built on respect, fairness, and inclusion. We’re creating a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to make a difference. Equality, diversity, and inclusion aren’t just words for us – they’re the foundation of how we work.

Our Commitments to Inclusion

We believe that inclusion starts with action. Here’s how we’re making it real:

  • Accessibility matters
We provide reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process and in the workplace, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
  • Equal opportunities
Candidates from underrepresented groups who meet essential criteria are guaranteed an interview. This is one of the ways we’re working to level the playing field and open doors for talented individuals.
  • Visibly Better Employer
We’ve achieved the RNIB’s quality standard, which has helped us identify and implement improvements to our recruitment and retention practices for blind and partially sighted people. This achievement reflects our ambition, set out in our People Promise, to create an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone can be themselves, perform at their best, and know their contributions are valued.
  • Action, not words
We’re proud to support Tai Pawb’s Deeds Not Words pledge and the Anti-Racism Wales Action Plan. These commitments drive real change in the housing sector and help us challenge inequality, amplify underrepresented voices, and embed fairness in everything we do.
  • Pathway to Board
We’ve partnered with the Pathway to Board programme to improve ethnic diversity in leadership. This initiative equips individuals from minority ethnic communities with the skills and experience to influence decision-making and shape the future of organisations like ours. Nayur, a member of our People and Governance Committee, shares how the programme gave valuable insights into housing and strengthened connections with colleagues.  (Link to Nayur’s blog – My experience of Pathway to Board – Nayur Zahoor  – Bron Afon)

Gender Pay Gap – Our Commitment to Transparency

We believe in openness and fairness. Every year, we publish our Gender Pay Gap Report to show how we’re performing and where we need to improve. This isn’t just a legal requirement – it’s part of our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Welsh Language – Treating Both Languages Equally

We are proud to support the Welsh Language and treat it no less favourably than English. Our Welsh Language Scheme ensures customers and colleagues can engage with us in the language of their choice. We’re currently building on our commitments ahead of the Welsh Language Standards being introduced across the housing sector.

Why It Matters

Diversity makes us stronger. By welcoming different perspectives, we deliver better outcomes for our customers and communities. Together, we’re building an organisation where respect, fairness and inclusion are at the core of everything we do.

Our People Promise

Our People Promise is simple: to create an inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone can be themselves, perform at their best, and know their contributions are welcomed and valued. We invest in our people because they are the key to our success.

Wellbeing and Workplace Support

Supporting colleagues’ wellbeing is central to our culture. We provide a range of wellbeing resources including a generous wellbeing offer and reasonable adjustments to help those living with disabilities or long-term health conditions thrive at work.

Celebrating Inclusion Beyond the Workplace

Inclusion doesn’t stop at our doors. We’re proud to have sponsored Torfaen Pride for the last two years – and we’re doing it again in 2026! Pride is more than a celebration; it’s a powerful reminder that everyone deserves to feel safe, visible, and valued in the place they call home.

Our Vision for the Future

We believe inclusion is not a destination – it’s a journey. Our vision is to create a culture where diversity is celebrated, and every voice matters. Together, we will continue to break down barriers, challenge inequality, and lead the way in building workplaces and communities where everyone truly belongs.
